the newbie

so..it has been 2 weeks. at first rasa macam a bit blur, but i'm getting the hang of it..just need to adapt. me being the impatient person that i am, was kinda feeling a teeny weeny bit depressed because i felt i was so out of place and i wanted to catch up really fast.

then it dawned on me that i'm NEW..duhh.. obviously i need to learn and get adjusted..new people, new system..this is totally different from what i was used to in advertising & events..

for instance:

1. ada clock in/out system with fingerprint (tempat lama dulu tulis kat buku je..so kalau masuk lambat still boleh cover2 line konon lambat 5 minit je, padahal lambat setengah jam..hahaha)

2. the term A&E here is not advertising & events but Accident & Emergency.. (hahaha.. mula2 confused gak when they were mentioning A&E...i was like, what the....?)

3. we start work at 9, and go back at 5pm. SHARP. except if kena attend VIP or ada deadline, which is quite seldom la.

4. there's no WIP (work-in-progress) or contact report (dreaded these things dulu...advertising/events are so fast moving, leceh gile nak update WIP tu)

5. i just realized that i'm not an agency or supplier, i am the CLIENT. Dulu i had to meet the clients' expectations.. (yea, and unfortunately for me, jarang la jumpa client yang baik..most of the time they treat us like dogs..i'm not saying all of them la, but just my luck dapat clients yang unappreciative and yet so stupid and tau nak condemn orang je.. and they're always Malay..ohh..tu yang lagi malu... well that's another entry la kan..)

but now the roles have been reversed :)

6. except that of course, the patients here are the clients la.. and that include the royalties/ambassadors/diplomats that i have to attend to from time to time.. ada tu yang jenis angkuh plak tu.. hmm... sabar je la..

7. sometimes we have to work on sundays. but we get replacement leave. (kat tempat lama dulu, kalau kerja weekends ke, overtime ke, hape ke..patutnya dapat allowance. tapi sampai sekarang pun tak dapat..hahaha...)

8. if we need to do claims, or apply leave, there are many procedures we have to go through la. macam2 procedure...very the serious ok..hhhmmm.. agak scary la..

9. being in a corporate environment.. and obviously a bigger and more established organization compared to my previous employment, it's not surprising that politics are abundant. hahaha.. sedangkan dulu keje kat office kecik pun, politiknye...amboiii...dasyat.. boleh lawan dgn giant companies gak la..

so sheemi, just watch your back.
